Profile-types

There are fridge door profiles in all shapes and sizes. Within our assortment profiles are subdivided into three groups: PVC, rubber and silicon. PVC profiles are subdivided based on shape and fastening method.

PVC profiles are used in fridge doors, fridge drawers, cold rooms etc. We distinguish the following PVC profile categories:
Dart profiles, flap profiles, lip profiles and compression profiles.

Besides these profiles made out of PVC there are profiles made of rubber and silicon.
Rubber profiles are often used for sealing hinged doors or sliding doors in coldrooms. Silicon profiles are commonly used in ovens because of heat tolerance of silicon.

Dart profile
The most commonly used profile is the dart profile also known as the arrow head profile. This profile type has a dart (arrow head) with “teeth” that hooks into the slot when it is pushed in firmly.

Most of our dart type profiles have a magnet chamber, which can hold a magnetic strip.

DSU profile codes with an –M extension have a magnet chamber. Dart profiles in our assortment that do not have a magnet chamber have a profile code with the extension –A or –R.

Flap profile
Flap profiles can be identified by the flap at the base of the profile. When installing this type of seal this flap is retained by a metal plate. The retaining plate is fitted to the door with screws, rivets or staples in order to keep the flap seal in place.

Most of our flap profiles have a magnet chamber, which can hold a magnetic strip. DSU profile codes with an –M extension have a magnet chamber. There are a few flap profiles without a magnet chamber. These flap profiles have a profile code with the extension –R.

Lip profile
Lip profiles are quite similar to flap profiles. Where flap profiles have a flat flap attached to the base of the profile lip profiles have a lip at the end of the flap. This lip helps to secure the positioning of the seal during and after installation. Lip profiles are secured behind a metal retaining plate or strip, which is then fastened with screws or rivets.

Most of our lip profiles have a magnet chamber, which can hold a magnetic strip. DSU profile codes with an –M extension have a magnet chamber. There are a few lip profiles without a magnet chamber. These lip profiles have a profile code with the extension –R.

Compression profiles
Compression profiles do not have a magnet chamber. These profiles have the DSU profile code with the extension –A. Compression profiles are installed with the same method as flap and lip profiles. Compression profiles are held into place behind a metal retaining plate or strip, which is then fastened with screws or rivets.

Silicon profiles
Profiles in this category are made of silicon. Silicon has a large temperature bandwidth therefore it can be used in freezers and ovens. The temperature range is from -40 to 280 degrees Celsius. Silicon profiles are used in ovens, combi ovens, steamers and freezer cabinets. Because silicon cannot be welded like PVC, silicon glue (article 8.03.03-0) is used to connect silicon profiles. Silicon profiles can be ordered per meter of per roll.

Silicon profiles with a flap are installed in the same way as PVC flap profiles. Silicon profiles with a “dart” are installed in the same as PVC dart profiles.

Rubber profiles
Because of the properties of rubber it is often used in cold rooms. Rubber cannot be welded like PVC, so our special rubber glue is used to join pieces.

Rubber profiles are available per meter of on a roll. For some rubber profiles corner pieces are available. Look for the -H in the productname. These can be used to easily create a 90 degree angle when fitting a new rubber seal on a cold room door.

Rubber profiles with a flap are installed in the same way as PVC flap profiles. Rubber profiles with a “dart” are installed in the same as PVC dart profiles. For some rubber profiles fastening strips are available.
